About Us...

The Stay Safe Store was established January 1, 2003 to capitalize on the competitive opportunity available to Small Business and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) for securing primary and subcontractor contracts for goods and services with the State of California, the federal government and other public sector agencies. Our goal is to become a successful competitor for public sector business related to safety and security products and services. And, to eventually duplicate that success with the private sector, internet and catalog business.

The Stay Safe Store is a father-son General Partnership consisting of 51% ownership by Kenny D. Shoemake, a service-connected disabled veteran, and 49% ownership by James D. Shoemake, his son. Kenny D. Shoemake has considerable experience in the private, public and social sectors of our economy. The State of California annually contracts for approximately $6 billion in goods and services. A 3% goal, or approximately $180 million, is the targeted share of total state contracts for the 900 DVBE certified companies. In order to reach the 3% goal, most state agencies have elected to require a DVBE component in all contracts in excess of $10,000. Our research of the State of California DVBE database shows that for the majority of our product line we are the only DVBE certified company competing for state contracts. Federal Law requires every agency to attempt to set aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned small business at least 3% of their estimated 12 million annual contract awards, totaling $ 500 billion. This potentially creates a $ 15 billion market for just Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses.

California regulated public utility companies have a legislated goal of 1.5%, creating a potential market of $180 million.
